Clinical Risk Management

The recent healthcare reform initiatives highlight the importance of integrating efforts toward quality improvement and patient safety with the goals of minimizing losses of revenue, opportunity, and market share.  Our Clinical Risk Management Consultants leverage countrywide experiences with client hospitals to provide services that assist in efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions, improve patient satisfaction, and reduce costs associated with professional liability exposures across the entire continuum of care.  Based on identified needs, lead client service strategies may include:

Assessments to identify areas of vulnerability and recommend best practices
The need for an on-site assessment may arise from your organization's objectives or previous adverse events.  Two types of reviews are typically offered:

  • Focused Risk and Patient Safety Assessments of specific departments within the organization, and
  • Focused Risk and Patient Safety Assessments of processes across multiple departments of an organization.

A dedicated Clinical Risk Management Consultant will visit your facility during these reviews to meet with key personnel, review internal documents and medical records, and tour the facility.  A formal report, written from a risk management perspective, is provided following the assessment.

Opportunities to attend educational presentations
Your Clinical Risk Management consultant will work with you to determine additional educational needs of your organization and can provide customized educational presentations on a variety of topics.  Your organization's clinical and risk management staff is also encouraged to participate in BerkleyMed's Brown Bag Discussion Series webinars and annual all-day seminar to network with other BerkleyMed lead clients and participate in open discussions as our Client Service Team members share their expertise on risk mitigation "hot topics."

  • Consultations regarding specific cases, complex complaints, and any issues that may be new to your organization,
