Leadership

The BerkleyMed Leadership Team brings extensive healthcare
experience to the table. This expertise spans the realm from
insured to carrier to broker and includes specialists in all facets
of the insurance industry including, clinical risk management,
financial, underwriting, actuarial, and claims management.
Collin Suttie serves as the President
for BerkleyMed and provides the leadership and strategic direction
for the organization. He has more than 23 years of experience in
the hospital professional liability industry and previously served
as the Chief Operating Officer of BerkleyMed. He has been a member
of the company's Leadership Team since its inception.
Collin graduated with a B.S. from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and has an M.B.A. from the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial
Society (FCAS) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
(MAAA).
Matthew
Fessler serves as Sr. Vice President for BerkleyMed. In this
capacity, he provides leadership, technical expertise, business
development, and strategic direction for Sales and Claims.
Additionally, Matt provides organizational and strategic support
for Underwriting, Actuarial Services, and Client Services.
Over the past 29 years, Matt has established himself within the
healthcare insurance industry for his technical operations
expertise, strategic analysis, and leadership of national
healthcare claim practices. Since coming to BerkleyMed as part of
the original Leadership Team, at various times he has held direct
responsibility for Claims, Marketing, and Sales with extended
support of other functional areas of focus for the
organization.
Matt has his CPCU designation and is a member of the Defense
Research Institute (DRI) Medical Liability Subcommittee. A graduate
of Carthage College, Matt has participated in an Insurance
Executive Leadership program through the University of
Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. He also holds a Claim Law
Associate through the American Education Institute.
Roger
Becker is responsible for BerkleyMed's accounting, financial
planning, IT, and human resources functions of the company.
He has over 25 years experience in various financial roles within
consulting companies and insurance carriers. Seven of those years
were spent at Midwest Employers Casualty Company, (another WRBC
affiliate), directing their finance department. During his career,
Roger has been responsible for IPO's, start-up operations, mergers
& acquisitions, reinsurance purchasing, GAAP and STAT
reporting, and IT implementation.
Roger graduated from Monmouth College with a Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant and
FLMI.
Russell
Creed is responsible for BerkleyMed's proprietary benchmarking
database, pricing models, and forecasting. He has developed
correlation analysis tools, peer group criterion and numerous
metrics used in the development of benchmarking reports for lead
customers.
He was previously employed by a national actuarial consulting firm
but has been with BerkleyMed since its inaugural year. He has prior
experience in an actuarial consulting role which included
quantification of professional liability, general liability,
workers compensation, and commercial auto, reserves and rate level
indications, as well as preparation of expense and retention
benchmarking studies for personal lines insurers.
Russell graduated from University of Missouri - Columbia with dual
degrees in Mathematics and Japanese Studies. He's a Member of the
American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and an Associate in the
Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
As Vice President - Risk Management for
BerkleyMed, Jane Sharpe is responsible for the direction of the
Risk Management Department. She provides support of proper risk
evaluation in the initial underwriting and renewals of company
insureds and assures that the department is continually evolving to
meet the changing needs of BerkleyMed clients and their
brokers.
Prior to joining BerkleyMed in 2005 as a Risk Management
Consultant, Jane was a Corporate Director of Risk Management for a
self insured integrated health system for 13 years. Her
responsibilities in healthcare risk management included loss
control, claims and litigation management, and risk financing. Jane
also has 13 years of clinical experience in Pediatric Critical Care
nursing and nursing management, including contributions to
hospital-wide quality initiatives.
Jane graduated with a B.S. in Nursing from the University of
Central Oklahoma and a M.S. in Healthcare Administration from
Oklahoma State University. Jane also has an Associate in Risk
Management designation and is a Certified Professional in
Healthcare Risk Management.
Robbin currently serves as Vice
President - Marketing for BerkleyMed. In this capacity, she is
responsible for market strategy, product positioning, branding, and
new product development.
Prior to joining BerkleyMed as part of the original Leadership
Team, Robbin was employed with Midwest Employers Casualty Company
(another WRBC affiliate) as the Vice President of Human Resources.
During her seven year tenure there she was responsible for staffing
and employee development and was a member of the strategic
leadership team.
Robbin graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from
Oklahoma State University and an M.A. from the University of
Houston - Clear Lake.
